Deep Future, Deep Roots.

Deep Future, Deep Roots invites us to look beyond tomorrow. We explore how medicine and longevity, artificial intelligence, work, education, communities and innovation will transform human life and our relationship with the planet-without losing meaning, creativity and connection.

Clean eating - What does it mean to eat clean in an industrialized world? How do food quality, health, energy and lifespan influence one another?

Traditions and roots - What do we preserve from the wisdom, crafts and customs of those before us? How do roots become a resource for the future we

We do not predict the future. We imagine it, understand it and build it. What kind of future do we choose to create?

In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” TED created the TEDx program: local, independently organized events held under a TED license that bring people together for a TED-like experience.

TEDxBuzău combines live talks and TED Talk screenings to spark authentic conversations and connections. After its first edition in 2022, the community returns in 2026 with the theme Deep Future, Deep Roots.

Ana Maria Mircea

Entrepreneur, business coach, founder of Dacia Romanian Dining and Quantum Living

Raised in a family business in Buzău, she founded Dacia Romanian Dining, a project that brings Romanian gastronomy into the present, from the family butchery to the fine-dining experience.

Through Quantum Living, she offers coaching, business mentoring and a holistic development path for women. She works with women entrepreneurs seeking clarity, growth and balance.

She connects entrepreneurs, investors and producers around Romanian projects with international ambition. This is where Deep Future, Deep Roots begins.

Paula-Dorina Ispas

Clinical psychologist · Founder of Asociația Îmbunătățirea Vieții

Paula-Dorina Ispas is a clinical psychologist, the head of a centre for children with disabilities, and the founder and president of Asociația Îmbunătățirea Vieții.

For over 13 years, she has developed projects for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and people with disabilities, using sport as a tool for therapy, inclusion and personal development.

Guided by the motto “IEȘIM, EXISTĂM” (“We step out, we exist”), she promotes access to experiences that build independence and confidence.

Adrian Cioroianu is a historian, professor and journalist whose research and public work turn history into a tool for understanding the present.

Costin Dămășaru

Costin Dămășaru is the founder and CEO of Veruvis Centers and a researcher in neural performance enhancement, trained at MIT and in qEEG-guided neurofeedback.

Florina Onețiu

Theme: What becomes truly valuable in people when intelligence becomes abundant?

Florina Onețiu is a serial entrepreneur and business growth expert with more than 20 years of international experience. She is co-founder and CEO of BRILU.AI, creator of the HAI Wheel™ method and president of the Romanian Innovation Cluster.

Adrian Vornicu

Field: Nutrition & Longevity

Theme: The importance of nutrition in the ecosystem of life, for a balanced future

Adrian Vornicu is an independent researcher in bioelectronics and micronutrition. He explores the relationship between nutrition, metabolism, environment and longevity through a prevention and education focused approach.

Radu Ghină

Field: Heritage & Royal Legacy

Theme: The influence of royalty on Romanians’ lifestyle and way of thinking

Radu Ghină is an executive leader supporting the public and cultural work of the Royal Family of Romania. He is Executive Director of the Royal Collection Foundation, coordinating projects dedicated to preserving and presenting the family’s historical, artistic and documentary heritage.

Tarig Massawi

Field: Medicine

Theme: The fertility of the future - between biology, technology and our choices

Tarig Massawi is chief physician of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Ilfov County Emergency Clinical Hospital. He has more than 10 years of experience in assisted human reproduction and is an active member of ESHRE and SROG.

Samuel Șerban

Field: Spirituality & Personal Development

Theme: The Divine Oracle: manifesting the supernatural and discovering divine potential

Samuel Șerban is an author, visionary and global thought leader known for his profound approach to spirituality and personal transformation. He is the author of “The Divine Oracle”, a work shaped by more than 27 years of spiritual exploration and translated into ten languages.

Damian Drăghici

Field: Music, Entrepreneurship & Personal Transformation

Damian Drăghici left communist Romania and refused to accept a predictable destiny. By chance, he learned about applications to Berklee College of Music, one of the world's most prestigious jazz institutes. He applied, earned a scholarship and began the journey of the artist we know today. With his pan flute close to his heart, he studied jazz and went on to perform on major stages around the world alongside legends such as James Brown, Joe Cocker, Shaggy and Zucchero. In 2006, his hard work and perseverance were rewarded with a Grammy Award for the Silver Solstice project. Today, whether taking the stage as an artist or a speaker, Damian aims to share the lessons he has learned along the way.

Anca Mihalcea

Field: Geriatrics and gerontology

Theme: Genetics, predispositions, gene expression and the current limits of biological optimisation

Dr. Anca Mihalcea is a specialist in geriatrics and gerontology and a 2003 graduate of Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. She completed her residency at the Ana Aslan National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics, including a 2007 placement in medical gerontology and anti-aging medicine at INIA ONU in Malta, and became a specialist in 2009. Her training includes acupuncture, homeopathy, functional medicine, mesotherapy, orthomolecular nutrition, craniosacral biodynamics, medical Qigong and Bothmer movement. Interested in neuroscience, the microbiome, genetics and epigenetics, she approaches each person as a whole and considers functional and psycho-emotional factors when exploring health imbalances.

Ana Maria Pătru

Field: Sociology

Theme: The Voice of Women

Entrepreneur, mediator and leader with experience in public administration and international environments, Ana Maria Pătru is the founder of Women for a Better Society, a community built around a clear belief: women need voice, support, representation and real opportunities. She led Romania’s Permanent Electoral Authority and served as vice-president of the Association of World Election Bodies. Her experience extends beyond Romania through electoral reform programmes and international conferences in the United States, South Africa, Moldova and South Korea, where she contributed expertise in elections and democratic institution-building. Her professional and personal experiences led her to turn challenges into action and create Women for a Better Society. Today, WBS brings together women from different fields, generations and communities, creating connections, encouraging networking, supporting personal and professional development, and promoting women’s leadership and active participation in society. For Ana Maria Pătru, WBS stands for a simple principle: women grow when they support one another, open doors and turn each woman’s experience into value for the others.

The TEDx program

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created the TEDx program: local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBuzău, where x = independently organized TED event. At TEDxBuzău, TED Talk video screenings and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

What is TED?

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to ideas worth spreading. It began in 1984 as a conference about Technology, Entertainment and Design, and today covers almost every field, from science and business to culture and global issues, in more than 100 languages, through conferences, TED Talks and media initiatives such as TED.com.
